Challenge offer configurator

The institute offers tests for mechanical, thermal, chemical and other properties according to DIN or ISO. In order to make it easier for buyers, project managers, quality planners or sales people to research the right scope of testing, KIMW was looking for an offer configurator or a software solution that compiles the items that match the testing standard.

The aim was to make planning easier for customers and to give them more security in their selection. For example, even buyers with little specialist knowledge should be able to use the offer configurator to obtain an error-free offer in just a few clicks. Due to the large number of verifiable standards that are offered to the customer in the configurator, the data preparation was the greatest challenge. In joint coordination and preparation in Excel logic, the data and logic were finally stored in an easy-to-maintain format.

Tested at the fair

In a joint workshop, an initial questionnaire and the logic for achieving the desired result were defined. As a result, each user should have a simple overview of what needs to be tested, how many components are needed, the maximum time the test will take and how much it will cost in total. So there were many interrelated factors to consider. In the Digital Product Selector, this was possible with the help of an individually programmed calculation of the maximum processing time for all test items and the summation of the individual test costs. With the right styling, the result could be clearly presented to the customer.

Subsequently, with the support of FoxBase, KIMW developed the offer configurator, which was tested for the first time at the Fakuma trade fair. After the offer configurator was successfully tested on the market, it was published in the institute's web shop. Customers and interested parties are guided via an interactive questionnaire to the service that suits their needs and can complete the purchase directly, since the software is linked to the shopping cart.

The new DIN SPEC 91446

The Digital Product Selector helps with the simple and quick selection of standard tests in the "Automotive Testing" area. Not only the customers and interested parties benefit from the software, but also the sales staff of the institute itself, as they now save time when preparing the offer. At the same time, the new DIN SPEC 91446, co-created by the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid, is being promoted via the offer configurator. The KIMW offers service and advice for the implementation via the configurator, as well as all necessary tests including labeling.

DIN SPEC 91446 provides comprehensive specifications on data volume and quality for material classification. It defines a system to classify plastic recyclates according to the data depth of their description. This helps to process plastic waste into recyclates that can be used again in products of the same or higher value -

Customers and prospects benefit by being...

... have less research and work effort and thus get the result faster

... have a minimized risk of error

... find the right result with all the necessary information 24/7 within a very short time

Result: single point of contact

With the online offer configurator, the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid offers an innovative single point of contact with which all necessary DQL tests including costs and estimated processing time can be calculated and ordered directly. A single point of contact was created along the needs of customers and prospects. All important information is now much easier to access, which simplifies planning for customers. The employees of the institute, in turn, have gained flexibility with the software, in that they can implement further offers either themselves or with the support of FoxBase with little effort in the software.
